Folic acid – which is also known as Vitamin B9 helps the body produce healthy red blood cells.

Folic acid is recommended by the NHS to treat or prevent folate deficiency anaemia, in order to help your unborn baby's brain, skull and spinal cord develop properly and avoid development problems - such as spina bifida.

Pregnant women and those who are trying are recommended to take folic acid until 12 weeks of pregnancy.

Folic acid facilitates the normal and healthy development of a baby. You're unlikely to get side effects with folic acid, although some people can feel sick, lose their appetite, feel gassy or bloated. However, these side effects are usually mild and do not last long.

Take 1 tablet or what is recommended by a healthcare professional daily with food.
